April Blog: 2028 Curriculum update

Site updates for Curriculum 2028
Many thanks for all of your positive feedback on the guidelines and resources that we have added so far on this site for the new curriculum, and also your requests for specific content/examples.
This week we published the final Focused Study for Paper 1, Climate and Innovation.
Thus all Focused Studies for Paper 1 are now on the InThinking site complete with practice exam materials.
1.1 Climate and innovation
This focused study covers the development of two very different civilisations
We have also continued to add more examples to the Paper 2 Thematic Studies and Paper 3 Regional Study options.
Next steps…
We are currently working on Regional Study 8: Totalitarianism for Paper 3, Europe and Regional study 9: Conflict and instability in the Middle East for Paper 3, Africa and the Middle East.
The list for the next couple of months includes
- First World War for Paper 2, 'Conflict' and Paper 3, Europe
- Second World War for Paper 3, Europe
- Social movements for Paper 3, Americas
- The Cold War for Paper 3 Americas and Europe
Many more topics are planned; we will keep you updated on this monthly blog!
Revision materials for May examinations
As we approach the May examinations, please remind your students that we have revision tips on the site for students, as well as revision summary pages and multiple-choice quizzes and flash cards.
If you do not yet have student access set up, this would be a good time to do it to allow your students to use these materials in the lead up to the examinations. This is free with your subscription.
History Podcasts
One of favourite podcasts, which we have mentioned many times on this Blog is the BBC In Our Time programme.
Last week the programme discussed the significance of The Spanish-American War of 1898; this is relevant to Higher Level students studying the Americas topic, ‘Emergence of the Americas in global affairs’
BBC Radio 4 - In Our Time, The Spanish-American War 1898 (BBC)
How a war that began in Cuba saw the US acquire the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico.
Also good for students studying the Americas for Paper 3, this earlier episode examined how the spread of plants, animals and diseases after Columbus reached the Americas in 1492 caused transformations and devastations.
BBC Radio 4 - In Our Time, The Columbian Exchange (BBC)
The impact of the spread of animals, crops and diseases between continents after 1492
