The reign of the Taisho Emperor, although short, is associated with a period of optimism in Japan"s development when it seemed that Japan was becoming part of the international world order and developing new political and social orders. However, in reality the changes were only superficial and would not be able to withstand the impact of the international crises which took place from the end of the 1920s.
