6. The Balkan Wars 1912 - 1913
With the arrival of the Young Turks and their take over of government, along with the Ottoman war against Italy, the Balkans states of Montenegro, Greece, Bulgaria, and Serbia looked to take advantage of the fact that Ottoman attention was diverted elsewhere. The resulting two Balkan wars were to be catastrophic for the Ottoman Empire and to redraw the map of the Balkans. This in turn would have wider European significance...
