Port Wilson, Genève

Dear subscribers

Welcome to the July Newsletter! And greetings from sunny Geneva! No, I'm not on summer vacation just yet - I am here running an IB Category 2 Extended Essay Workshop at Institut Florimont - my final workshop for this academic year.

At the time of writing, many teachers and their DP2 students are eagerly awaiting the May 2025 examination results. You can access my blog “Top 10 things for teachers to know about the M25 exam results” on InThinking here.

Other updates

Other recent updates to the website include:

  • Unit 3.4 Final accounts posters and PPT - The posters have been designed and shared by María Pardo, who teaches at the American School of Valencia in Spain. The PowerPoint presentation has been created and shared by Amritpal Kaur, who teaches at CJD International School of Braunschweig-Wolfsburg in Germany. These resources can be accessed here. Many thanks to both Maria and Amrit for their creativity and generosity in sharing these with the InThinking Business Management community!
  • Unit 3.9 (HL only) revision poster has been added here. Many thanks again to Maria Pardo from the American School of Valencia in Spain, for creating and sharing this new resources with us on InThinking.
  • A new Paper 2 exam practice question for Unit 4.5, focusing on price elasticity of demand (PED) has been added here (scroll down to "Exam Practice Question 5"). It is based on recent real-world data for school places in private schools in England.
  • For those who have not used Tri-dominoes activities before, perhaps this on - recently created for the new Extended Essay - is a good starting point. The activity is a fun and engaging way to get students more familiar with terminology; in this case for the new Extended Essay. It is also a great activity to use with your teachers/EE supervisors at the start of the new academic year. The instructions and template can be found hereYou can also find a newly added True or False Quiz on the same site page to see how much you know about the new EE guide (first implementation 2025).

If you missed the webinar about the new EE, hosted by Hachette Learning, you can watch the recording here.  I will be adding many more resources to this section of the website after my C2 EE Workshop concludes later this week.

InThinking Authors' Summit 2025

Last week, InThinking site authors, the tech team, and InThinking Central met up for an energising weekend in beautiful Sitges, Spain 🇪🇸 where we shared ideas, challenged what we (think we) know, and reimagined what great teaching and learning looks like.

The summit involved over 50 passionate educators who explored best practices in the classroom, the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, and strategic ways forward to support teachers and students. A recurring theme throughout was the importance of nurturing critical thinking - not just in our students, but in ourselves as educators of the IB Diploma Programme.

I left Sitges with plenty of ideas for the InThinking Business Management website. There are certainly lots of exciting developments to look forward to in the new academic year!

Finally, for teachers and students in May centres, I wish you all the very best with the upcoming IB examination results.

With kind regards to one and all.

Paul Hoang
