Exam Results - May 2025
Tuesday 1 July 2025

Teachers and students in May centres will be anticipating the release of the May 2025 IB exam results soon! In this blog, I go through some of the most important things that you (and your students) should know.
- The IB exam results will be released on Saturday 5th July 2025, starting at 12:00pm GMT, depending on your time zone. Your DPC will be able to access these results through IBIS.
- Universities that have opted to use the online service will also get your students' exam results at this time.
- The IB releases exam results to schools first in order for the DPC and you to have time to analyze these results and prepare to guide your students accordingly.
- Your DPC and/or Head of School have the discretion to provide exam results to students after your school receives them. In any case, students can access their own exam results online from Sunday 6th July 6 2025 starting from 12:00pm GMT. Student will need to use their personal code and PIN to log in to candidates.ibo.org
- DPCs can access component marks and grades for all students on IBIS from 7th July 2025, again from 12:00pm GMT. This includes marks for Internal Assessment (IA), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and the Extended Essays (EE). The data can help you to advise students who may want to request an enquiry upon results (EUR), such as a re-mark of a particular component of the DP.
- School and global statistics for the M25 exams will be available to DPCs on 9th July 2025 at 12:00pm GMT. These statistics, available from IBIS, cover data for school performance, individual subjects, the EE, and TOK.
- IA feedback forms will be available on IBIS from 12th July 2025, at 12:00pm GMT. This feedback from moderators helps you understand how their school's IA marking aligned with the global standard. Note that if the IA has been marked to the correct standard, there is no need to provide additional guidance to schools.
- You may receive messages from your students about remarks (if their grades are lower than expected). The DPC is the only person at your school who can submit an EUR request on behalf of a student (see below for details about the various categories of EUR). Note that the IB will not accept requests directly from students or parents.
- The official IB Diploma certificates will be sent to schools, typically arriving in September for May session exams.
Did you know…?
The IB requires schools to securely store all student work (both externally and internally assessed, such as the EE and IA) until the close of the examination session (15th September 2025 for May exams).
Information about Enquiry Upon Results (EUR)
Enquiry upon results (EUR) is a service for schools and students, after the release of IB exam results, if they believe that the grade awarded is incorrect, for whatever reason. Your school's IB Diploma Programme Coordinator can submit an EUR on behalf of your student(s). The IB will not accept direct requests from students, their legal guardians, or representatives.
The DPC can request an EUR based on the following categories:
- Category 1 re-mark: The re-mark of externally assessed material for an individual candidate. Written consent from the student or their legal guardian(s) is mandatory before the school submits this EUR request, as grades can go up, remain unchanged, or go down.
- Category 1 report: A report on a Category 1 re-mark for an individual student.
- Category 2A: The return of externally assessed material by component for all candidates.
- Category 2B: The return of externally assessed material by subject/level for an individual candidate.
- Category 3 re-moderation: The re-moderation of marks for IA by subject/level. This only applies if the mean score of the candidates' moderated IA marks differs from the raw marks awarded by the teacher by at least 15% of the maximum mark.
Requests for an EUR must be submitted on IBIS no later than 15th September 2025. Note that a fee is generally payable for each EUR category, unless a grade changes as a consequence of a Category 1 re-mark.
The IB will only communicate the outcome of an EUR to the DPC, not directly to students or their families.
