Halloween special - The Dead Brands Graveyard

Halloween special - The Dead Brands Graveyard!

πŸŽƒπŸ‘» The Dead Brands Graveyard – A Spooktacular IB Business Management Activity! πŸͺ¦πŸ’€

With Halloween just around the corner (for those who observe it), here's a fun, creative, and educational classroom activity from InThinking Business Management!

πŸͺ¦ Welcome to the Dead Brands Graveyard!

Why do once-successful brands disappear? What causes businesses to decline, and what can today's organizations learn from their mistakes?

This activity challenges students to investigate brands that have reached the end of their product life cycle and create their own brand tombstones for a classroom graveyard display!

πŸ”Ž How does it work?

1️⃣ Choose a brand – Working in pairs, students select a brand that no longer exists.

2️⃣ RIP (Research In Progress!) – Investigate the main reasons behind the brand's demise. Was it poor management, changing consumer preferences, technological disruption, increased competition, or a failure to innovate?

3️⃣ Design a tombstone – Use one of our downloadable templates (A4 or A3), or create your own. Encourage creativity!

4️⃣ Explain the cause of death – Include a concise paragraph or bullet points explaining why the brand disappeared.

5️⃣ Present and display – Students share their findings with the class before adding their tombstones to the Dead Brands Graveyard classroom wall display.

πŸ’‘ Why use this activity in IB Business Management?

πŸ”Ή Creativity – Encourages imaginative thinking and engaging visual communication.

πŸ”Ή Change – Reinforces why businesses must adapt to changing market conditions to survive.

πŸ”Ή Product life cycle – Helps students understand the decline stage and the importance of extension strategies.

πŸ”Ή Research and critical thinking – Encourages students to investigate real-world business failures and draw lessons from them.

🎨 Looking to refresh your classroom display? This could be just the activity you need!
