April 2025 Notices and Updates

Welcome to the April 2025 Newsletter!

Paper 1

The Paper 1 (Myt PLC) examination takes place at the end of this month, on 30th April 2025!

Teachers can activate Student Access from the InThinking homepage to enable their students to access a range of ATL Activities, lesson ideas, quizzes, top tips, and exam practise questions for the Myt PLC Paper 1 pre-release. There are 16 ATL activities plus 45 exam practice questions covering all sections of the syllabus, including the Business Management Toolkit (BMT), along with mark schemes for teachers. We also have a full mock exam and full mark scheme, created in collaboration with Deborah Kelly from Lincoln School, in Costa Rica. Many thanks to Deborah for creating and sharing this valuable resource with the InThinking community! The updated Paper 1 resources can all be accessed here.

Internal Assessment

Teachers and students should find the following sections of the website useful as they work to complete the IA upload process prior to the IB deadline (20th April 2025). Much of the site has been updated following the recent IB Category 3 Business Management workshop, hosted by InThinking, focusing on the IA.

  • Advice on the supporting documents for the IA can be found here.
  • Detailed explanations and top tips for interpreting the IA assessment criteria can be found here.
  • Advice on the Teacher comments sheet can be found here.
  • Instructions for the upload process can be accessed here.

Other site updates

Other site updates during the past month include the following:

  • A third exam practise question based on the construction of the balance sheet (statement of financial position) has been added here (scroll down to the Exam Practice Questions tab, and look for the "Gamer247" case study).
  • Following publication of the November 2024 exam papers, mark schemes, and subject reports, several sections of the InThinking website have been updated to incorporate and reinforce the requirements from the IB. These include more "Exam context" boxes to show students where and how subject content has been examined in the new exams so far. The updated exam questions tracker can be found here.
  • A new marketing activity, which aligns well with the CAS programme, has been created by Nikita Gosrani (Teacher of Business Management) and Priya Anand (Head of School) from Mount Litera School International, Mumbai, in India. Details of this engaging and purposeful activity can be found here.
  • A new Paper 2, Section B (HL only) exam paper and full mark scheme has been created in collaboration with Nivedita Banerjee who teaches IB Business Management and Economics at Overseas Family School in Singapore. This resource covers the following topics: Unit 1.5 Internal growth, Unit 1.5 Growth through franchising, Unit 5.2 Mass customization, Unit 5.5 Break-even quantity, and Unit 5.6 Optimal stock level (HL only). Nive is an IB Extended Essay examiner and IB Team Leader. Many thanks to Nive for her time, expertise, and generosity in getting this resource completed for the InThinking Business Management community. You can access the resource here.

Student Access

In March 2025, we reached two new milestones with a record 2695 teachers and 30,310 students registered using the website!

Subscribers are reminded that their students can gain free access to the InThinking Business Management website by activating Student Access from the homepage. With the exams just several weeks away (the Paper 1 exam will take place on 30th April 2025), why not give all your students access to the website if you haven't already done so?

The site is updated weekly throughout the year. We have created a short YouTube video to show students and teachers how they might use the website.

Social media engagement

At the time of writing, there 2195 teachers in our InThinking Business Management Facebook group who share questions, ideas, and resources on a regular basis. We also have 832 teachers in our highly active InThinking WhatsApp group. What we ask for is that all members check their WhatsApp privacy settings to ensure their full name and a suitable profile picture are on display - this is simply so that we all know who we are communicating with.

For those in May centres, I wish you and your students the very best for the upcoming examinations!
