March 2025 Notices and Updates

Welcome to the March 2025 Newsletter!

In early February 2025, the IB uploaded the pre-release statement for the Paper 1 exam on My IB. The main focus of the updates this month has been developing resources for the pre-release statement about Myt PLC - a large multinational company that produces non-alcoholic drinks across six continents.

Teachers can  activate Student Access from the homepage to enable their students to access ATL Activities, lesson ideas, quizzes, top tips, and exam practise questions for the Myt PLC Paper 1 pre-release. There are 15 ATL activities plus exam practice questions for all sections of the syllabus, including the Business Management Toolkit, that apply to the pre-release. The resources can all be accessed here.

We will also be hosting two Think-In courses for the Paper 1 pre-release statement. Details can be found on the CPD homepage here. These upskilling courses are likely to be popular, so please book early to reserve your space.

The new Extended Essay guide

In early February, the IB also published its new Extended Essay guide, for first teaching in 2025 and first examinations in May 2027. Watch this comprehensive video on YouTube from the recent free webinar hosted by Hachette Learning about what has and what has not changed in the new EE guide.

You can read more about the new Extended Essay and its impact on Business Management on the InThinking site page here. We are also hosting two upskilling courses for the new Business Management Extended Essay on 25th and 30th April (see details below).

There is still time to register for the upcoming Category 3 Workshop (Virtual), with specific focus on the Internal Assessment. This is an official IB Workshop, hosted by InThinking in cooperation with the IBO.

As official IB Workshops, all participants attending the above events qualify for IB certification.

IB Category 3 Business Management Workshop: Internal Assessment (21 - 23 March 2025)

This Category 3 IB workshop is suitable for all experienced Diploma Programme (DP) Business Management teachers and those who have completed a Category 1 IB workshop.

This workshop will equip you to deliver the Business Management Internal Assessment to students with confidence as you generate useful resources and devise appropriate activities with fellow workshop participants.

Gain key understandings, tools, and resources to adapt and develop your practice in line with the DP Business Management Internal Assessment (IA). In this practical workshop, you will examine the assessment criteria, mark sample internal assessments, ask questions and learn how to develop a robust programme underpinned by appropriate IB pedagogy and a range of useful resources.

Participants will closely examine the internal assessment, be clear about its requirements and be prepared to apply what you learn in a manner that supports the IB mission statement, the learner profile and other core areas of the Diploma Programme.

Registration details can be found on the InThinking website here.

Registration details can also be found on the IB website here.

You can download the C3 Workshop agenda here.

Content of this workshop has been updated to accommodate feedback from the recent examinations in May 2024 and November 2024.

Student Access

Subscribers are reminded that their students can gain free access to the InThinking Business Management website by activating Student Access from the homepage. At the time of writing, a total of 29,289 IB DP Business Management students are registered on the website, all of whom enjoy free access. With the exam season not far away (the Paper 1 exam will take place on 30th April 2025), why not give your students access to the website if you haven't already done so?

The website is updated weekly throughout the year. We have created a short YouTube video to show students and teachers how they might might use the website.

Social media engagement

At the time of writing, there are more than 2,174 teachers in our InThinking Business Management Facebook group who share questions, ideas, and resources on a regular basis. We also have 812 teachers in our highly active InThinking WhatsApp group. What we ask for is that all members check their WhatsApp privacy settings to ensure their full name and a suitable profile picture are on display - this is simply so that we all know who we are communicating with.

Looking ahead

As we look ahead to the rest of this month, additional resources will be added to the InThinking website for the upcoming Paper 1 pre-release statement. This will include two Paper 1 mock exams (work in progress with two other authors) as well as suggested answers for all the exam practice questions currently on the site page.

Wishing you all a productive and rewarding month ahead!

Paul Hoang
