2024 Paper 1: Sample Response 4 (ChatGPT)

This is the 4th exemplar we are adding from the May 2024 Paper 1 exam in response to an “opinion article” that “was published in UX Collective, an online newsletter and blog” titled "A radical opinion on ChatGPT."

This is a classic example of a student who knows how to write well – their language is fluid! – but they find themselves lost in general interpretation and analysis.  They understand the text, the know to focus on the author’s choices, but it’s just not a convincing response.  You may want to pair this exemplar with one that scores a bit higher.  This one and this one go beyond the general and get to more specific, detailed interpretation and analysis.  Comparing and contrasting the two (or three) is definitely a useful classroom activity and time well-spent.

Best,

Tim and David
