Comparative Commentaries to Go: In Mourning
This Comparative Commentary to Go takes mourning as its focus. Whilst almost all of us experience mourning the death of loved ones in our lives, this topic clearly needs to be introduced to a class with care, and it is important that teachers have a good knowledge of their students. The first text is Tony Harrison’s poem ‘From Long Distance’. The second text is a newspaper story, recounting the real-life story of Paco the dog who mourns his owner, Kelly Black, killed in a hit-and-run incident. Both texts are deeply moving.
