This week we are publishing another Paper 1 from the May 2024 examination session.  The text is an infographic aimed at developing the film industry in East Africa.  More often than not, we can locate the text online.  This time, we struck out.  If you have found it, kindly tell us in the comment section and we will update the page!  Alternatively, you can buy the exam from the IB Store.  This one, as far as we know, is not copyright protected and you will be able to use it if you buy the exam from the IB.     

The guiding question was: How do visual elements and text contribute to this exploration of the film industry?  If you look back across several previous Paper 1 exams, you will notice that this question is a common one.  It comes in various forms or iterations, but discussing visuals and text comes up often.  Preparing students for this question (and this text type) makes sense.  It might not arise and it might be a different text type, but being prepared to discuss both visuals and language – in relation to the rest of the question – would be a wise use of class time.
