New Paper 1: Sample Response 4 (Tandoori Food)

I’ve been working on Paper 1 again this week.

This the fourth sample response about tandoori food from the May 2021 examination session.  You can find it here.  The first two we published, found here and here, are excellent.  The third one, found here, while not as good as the first two, is still a strong response.  This one is the weakest of the four we’ve published so far.

So why use it?

Students need to see the difference between excellent, very good, and good to satisfactory.  By comparing and contrasting this exemplar with the 3rd exemplar, students will begin to understand the difference between getting 3s in every criterion and getting 4s in every criterion.  By parsing out the differences, students will gain insight into how to move their writing to the next level.

Best,

Tim
