Specimen Paper 1s

I've recently received requests from several teachers to develop some specimen Paper 1s. As you may know the official specimen papers can be found on the OCC under 'assessment'. Practising with these specimens is crucial to good preparation for external assessment. However, there is only one set, meaning that many students have already seen the texts for Paper 1 or worked with the sample student responses found on this website. For what it's worth, I have taken the effort to design a new specimen Paper 1. Here are the links:

Here is my small disclaimer: Please keep in mind that these specimens are not IB-approved. You will notice that they have been designed very much in the spirit of the current specimen Paper 1s on the OCC, but they remain the work of one person: Brad Philpot.

With quite a few teachers checking out this website these days, it would be very useful to receive feedback my specimen Paper 1s. In fact my request for participation is threefold:

  1. I would appreciate feedback on the selection of texts. Feel free to use the comment boxes.
  2. Please review my 'marking notes'. Technically these should be made after the chief examiner has marked a few student responses. However, I'm not a chief examiner (only a lowly one), and I do not have any sample student responses yet. Which brings me to my final request.
  3. I would appreciate any sample student responses to these specimen Paper 1s. I'm willing to provide you and your students with feedback, in exchange for permission to publish the samples on the Subject Site.

I'm looking forward to feedback and contributions. I hope everyone is enjoying the website and please keep in touch.
