May 2023 Updates and Notices
Dear InThinking subscribers
It's already May! I hope your students performed well in the recent Paper 1 and Paper 2 May 2023 exams. Please remember to speak with your DP Coordinator about the G2 form which is used to provide teachers’ comments about each component (Paper 1 and Paper 2) of the external assessments. The comments are on the G2 form from teachers provide important background information for the Grade Award Committee (senior examiners and the subject manager) prior to setting grade boundaries for the May 2023 exams.
With over 90% of candidates coming from May centres, the InThinking Business Management website will have a new look, focusing on resources for the new course (first assessments 2024). For November centres, please continue to use the "Old syllabus N23" tab.
For those teaching Unit 2.6 Communication, please try out the "Business Cluedo Communication Challenge" with your students. I'm confident your students will enjoy this!
You may be interested in a poster set for the new key concepts, produced by ManageBac. The poster can be downloaded here.
Many thanks to Tom Brodie, Curriculum Coordinator ManageBac Curriculum Team at Faria Education Group for allowing us to reshare this with the InThinking community.
For students who have started, or are about to start, work on their Internal Assessment, please direct them here for additional guidance on the requirements of the supporting documents.
A new section with advice on the tools and theories for the new IA (assessment criterion C) has also been added here.
This covers the 15 tools in the BMT, an additional 25 tools from the syllabus, as well as a section on FAQ for this aspect of the Internal Assessment.
There is also further detailed guidance here for students who wish to use primary market research for the new Internal Assessment.
A new exam practice question has been added to the Paper 2 section of the website here. This resource, with a full mark scheme, has been produced in collaboration with InThinking subscriber Laoise Barthelmie and covers the following topics: cash flow, payback period, NPV, working capital, balance sheet, acid test ratio, and the debtor days ratio. Laoise teaches at the International School of Stuttgart, Germany. A huge "thank you" to Laoise for creating this and being so generous to share this with the InThinking community.
Continuing with the themes of creativity and sharing, the students at Chinmaya International Residential School, India, have been busy creating some fantastic revision posters/infographics. You can find these posters by following the hyperlinks below:
