Sunday 3 November 2024
Welcome to the November 2024 Newsletter!
Some of the updates during the past month include:
A wordsearch resource created and shared by Sylvaine Plan to help students review key terms from Unit 1 - Introduction to Business Management of the syllabus. Sylvaine is the EE Coordinator at Premier International IB Continuum School, Nepal. Many thanks to Sylvaine for supporting the InThinking community with this. The wordsearch can be accessed here.
A new set of multiple choice questions (MCQ) have been added here for Unit 4.1 - Market orientation vs Product orientation. There are twenty self-marked questions, with accompanying answers and explanations, to support students with this introductory section of the Marketing unit, which can be accessed here.
A new exam practice question based on the calculation of the return on capital employed (ROCE) ratio has been added here.
I am extremely grateful for the collaboration with Kim Forbes and Bradley Deren in getting the latest Paper 3 resource on InThinking Business Management. Many thanks for your hard work in getting this complete Kim and Bradley! The information has been updated to incorporate advice to teachers in the May 2024 Subject Report, available on My IB. Both Kim (Head of Department) and Bradley teach at Dubai American Academy in the United Arab Emirates. Teachers can access the resource here.
Teachers may be interested to know that the IB recently updated the syllabus (July 2024). Please make sure you use this latest version of the guide. Details of the changes are highlighted in the blog here.
The Exams Tracker feature on InThinking Business Management has been updated to include the recent November 2024 exams. The resource can be accessed from the Exams Tracker homepage here.
In mid October, we welcomed Dr. James Kioko and Paul Mungai from Nairobi Waldorf School Trust, Kenya, as our 2,500th and 2,501st teachers using the InThinking Business Management website.
In October, we also welcomed our 2,100th teacher member to the InThinking Business Management Facebook group. At the time of writing, there are 2,132 teachers in this group who share questions, ideas, and resources on a regular basis. We also have 741 teachers in our WhatsApp group who engage in daily discussions about our wonderful subject in the Diploma Programme.
At the end of October 2024, there were 2,527 registered teachers and 26,299 students from across 119 different countries using the InThinking Business Management website. Content on the website exceeds 1,900,000 words - to put this into context, that's more than 475 Extended Essays(!). So, there are plenty of resources to engage and support teachers and students alike.
