Keys to Success: Extended Essay in Business Management (15 May 2023)

A Think-In for teachers supervising an Extended Essay in Business Management this year. Although the training is designed for those relatively new to the EE and/or IB Business Management, the workshop is open to anyone who may be interested. The webinar will cover advice on practical strategies to manage the EE process and to successfully guide and supervise students.

Session 1 Formulating good EE titles and research questions in Business Management, Understanding the assessment criteria, Subject-specific advice, Managing the EE process effectively, Advice on effective citation and referencing in the EE.

Session 2 Effective strategies for the reflection sessions, Essential skills for success, Marking exercises, Resource sharing, Essay Writing frameworks, The World Studies EE with Business Management, Q&A session.

Keys to Success: The IA in the new DP Business Management (16th May)

The new Business Management Internal Assessment (IA) is a compulsory aspect of the course. This Think-In will explore all the changes to the common IA for SL and HL students, with many opportunities for your individual questions to be addressed.

Session 1 Overview of the new IA. Step by step approach to what makes a good Business Management IA. Focus on key concepts. Discussion on backwards vs forward looking research questions. Discussion on primary versus secondary research in the IA.

Session 2 Interpreting the new assessment criteria. Focus on academic integrity in the IA. Marking exercise (time pending). This Think-In includes ready-made resources for the IA, ready for use with your students.

The maximum number of participants is 25 and an InThinking certificate of participation will be awarded.

Focus on: Quantitative Techniques in the new DP BM course (25th May 2023)

Length: 3 hours, over one day

The IB DP Business Management course (first exams 2024) includes a range of quantitative tools and techniques that SL and HL students must become familiar with. This Think-In will focus on all quantitative aspects of the new course, including those in the Business Management Toolkit (BMT).

Session 1 Understanding the importance of quantitative tools and techniques. Quantitative techniques in the syllabus and the BMT. Applying quantitative techniques in the IA, EE, and Paper 2 assessments.

Session 2 Worked examples and marking exercise (time pending). Ready-made resources / worksheets (with answers) for each of the quantitative tools in the new BMT, ready for use with your students. Opportunities to have your individual questions addressed.
