French MYP Language Acquisition is a programme of the International Baccalaureate that allows the students to learn French within a continuum, from Phase 1 to Phase 6. Usually, students start learning the language in Phase 1 (Beginner level) and work their way up to the Capable level (Phases 3-4) or even to the Proficient level (Phases 5-6). The higher level the students reach, the better they can communicate in French and be ready for the transition to the IB Diploma programme. Let's look at the main components of the programme. 

IB language acquisition continuum

It takes a minimum of one year to complete a phase and move up to the next one. If you take the e-assessments for the MYP certificate at the end of the fifth year, you will be assessed according to the criteria for Phase 2, 4 or 6.

Four objectives

The four objectives focus on the four language skills. Each of them will be practised and assessed in sommative and formative assessments.
