  • "The ESS InThinking site is an excellent resource.  Although I’ve taught IB Bio for many years, I started teaching ESS a year ago, and I found that the approach to the IB ESScourse was very different.  I found that daunting. The ESS resources provide an incredibly wide range of thoughtfully constructed and easy-to-find activities for every topic - such as data analysis, presentations and practical work (lab work).  The activities make use of a range of different thinking routines and classroom approaches, which have helped me to improve my teaching practice in ESS and other classes too. There is also a wide range of video resources to choose from, combined with an online textbook, and sample assessments.  There is even advice on planning and pacing the course, and recommended lab equipment to use in the lab. All the teaching materials seem to have been “field tested” by using them with students, and best of all, they are closely aligned with the requirements of the IB ESS Course Guide and Teacher Support material. When I have had comments or queries about a particular resource on the ESS, response times from the site authors have been extremely fast (always within a day) and they are always helpful. I would highly recommend the ESS InThinking site as a resource for all ESS teachers – and as a new teacher, it is indispensable.  I really feel that it has improved my ability to support the learning of all my ESS students, no matter what their ability level is."

  • "Zoe Badcock and Laura Hamilton, along with the InThinking Team, have put together a wonderful resource for ESS teachers. Their eBook is clear and concise with helpful links and videos. Their activities are aligned with the the DP assessments and get scholars thinking deeply about the material. Finally, their IA resources were invaluable as I walked my students through the project for the first time--and they keep getting better!"

  • "Zoe and Laura from InThinking are amazing! I was thrown into teaching ESS very last minute and under tragic circumstances. Without their beautifully thought out and expertly crafted resources, I would have been lost. Their relevant and wide ranging case studies, experimental opportunities and data based activities are very impactful for student learning. I was soooo chuffed with my students' results at the end of my first year but I put a lot of that down to the ESS InThinking team - thank you! Your passion for your subject shines through."

  • "Very comprehensive overview of the course. As an experienced ESS Teacher, it was still useful to see new/additional resources and to have everything in a resource. I have used InThinking for IB DP Chemistry before and do use it regularly as a teacher. The benefit is that it is continually updated and added to by site authors."
