This subtopic provides an introduction to the atmosphere and at SL, covers the basics of the greenhouse effect. At HL, we need to understand the structure of the atmosphere, the evolution of this in geological time and how the atmospheric composition leads to the Earth"s climate with natural cycles over thousands of years. This leads us toward an understanding of how global warming is leading to climate change.
