The term "Sharing the planet" expresses a pretty recent idea, even though homo sapiens has always shared the planet in that we have all lived here. The modern aspect of the term is that the word "share" implies or includes the notion of "sharing fairly"... and looking back over history, it is quite clear that fairness was not significant in the way that tribes and nations and empires tended to deal with other people.
