This is a curiosity - I came across it in an old file while searching for something completely different for this website. It was written in 1986 for a short lived "literary magazine" which English A colleagues were trying to promote. Now, it reads as a bit self-indulgent (I recall enjoying writing at the top of the range ... sophisticated vocab, complex phrasing ... as a change from keeping it simple for the students)...
