Phytohormones (2025)

Phytohormones are signalling chemicals that control growth and development in plants. Auxin is one, and the mechanism by which it acts is quite complex, but it is a good illustration of the role of membrane proteins and the fluid nature of the plasma membrane. This will be considered first and then the interaction between auxin and cytokinin considered. Finally, the ripening of fruit using ethylene is discussed.
