Blue text shows extra clarification or guidance.Guiding questionsViruses have some of the smallest genomes known. Most of the genome provides genes to replicate the protein coat of the viruses"s structure. As they don"t have genes for many of the enzymes which are required for cell metabolism, they are obligate parasites, needing a living host cell to be able to reproduce. This enables the genome to be very small.
