DNA profiling require an understanding of both PCR and gel electrophoresis. In this activity we explain use of these two processes. Finally, the applications of DNA profiling for paternity evidence and for forensic investigations are illustrated.The DNA Polymerase enzyme used in DNA profiling is unusual because it works at best at 72°C.It was first found in a species of bacteria called Thermus aquatica.
