Transport in plants (2025)

The transportation of water through the xylem vessels of a plant is considered in this series of activities. The process of transpiration is explored and the continuous column of water due to the cohesion of the water molecules. The adaptations of the xylem vessels are then discussed. Finally, the skills of drawing plan diagrams of transverse sections of dicotyledonous plant stem and roots from micrographs is practised.
