MYP e-assessment

On this page, you can find an index of activities which are in the style of the MYP e-assessment.
The activities linked here are written in the style of the MYP e-assessment. They are most often somewhat ‘decontextualised’ in the sense that the learning context may be a little unfamiliar to students, requiring them to transfer their conceptual understanding in new ways. Many involve an interactive element, such as use of a sim to obtain data.
Criterion A only
A Pressure points
In this activity you will apply your understanding of pressure to make calculations for a Mars Rover
A How far?
In this activity you will find out how we represent quantities that have direction, and how useful this can be.
A Efficient living
In this activity you will explore how the energy efficiency of houses is rated, and how efficiency can be improved.
A Hydroelectric power
In this activity you will analyse a hydroelectric power system, to understand how energy can be transferred to produce electricity in a renewable and sustainable way.
A Eco-architecture -1
How easy is it to conserve energy and prevent it from transferring in ways that are not useful? This activity looks at real data comparing a house with some simple energy-conserving modifications to one...
A Understanding electric charge
What is electricity made from? Where does electric charge originate? How does electric charge interact with matter?
A Internet in the sky
In this activity you will find out about how satellites are used in different ways, and how they can enhance our access to telecommunications such as the internet.
A Understanding electromagnetic induction
In this activity you will interpret diagrams and data to explain how electromagnetic induction is used to generate electric current.
A What power bank?
You have learnt how we can calculate the electrical energy used by a device, and also how we can use a transformer to change potential differences. In this activity, you will connect this knowledge and...
A All in the eyes
In this activity you will apply your understanding of lens optics to understand how vision defects can be corrected by an optometrist.
A Separating colours
In this activity you will show how a prism can be used to separate white light into its component colour spectrum, through a process known as chromatic dispersion.
A The signal and the noise
In this activity, you will evaluate optical fibres for telecommunications use.
Criteria A and C
AC Galileo Thermometer
What properties of materials can we measure? What makes a material float? How do we exploit properties of materials in useful ways?In this activity we explore the way a Galileo thermometer uses the relationship...
AC Bat sense
In this activity you will measure the speed of sound using echos
AC Finding your focus
In this activity you will gather data to find the properties of some different lenses, analyse and interpret the data and use it to solve real-life problems that require lenses.
Criteria A and D
AD Solar power
Did you know that photovoltaic (solar) cells have been around for nearly 150 years? But recent technological advances mean that they are now many times more efficient - and research continues. How is...
AD What if all the lights went out?
Should we try to reduce electricity use globally? While electricity is essential for maintaining life-saving services such as hospitals or emergency services, how much of our electricity consumption is...
AD Power to the people?
Global context focus: Fairness and developmentHow can we help everyone have equal access to the electrical power that they need?
