May updates

Geosynchronous orbit gif via www.NASA.govInThinking MYP Physics is not a static resource - subscribers will see regular updates, including new units, activities and tools.

Here's a round-up of updates to the site since we launched in April.

New learning activities:

AD Using radioactivity  is a task from the forthcoming ‘Atoms and Nuclei’ unit which can be used to assess criterion A formatively and criterion D summatively. As always, the student task comes with a task-adapted grading rubric and marking notes AD Using radioactivity ATTL

AD Using radioactivity

In this activity you will evaluate the significance of background radiation and inquire into a use of radioactivity.

A Internet in the sky  is a new task for the Fields unit. It is a summative assessment for criterion A, with answers and a marking rubric A Internet in the sky ATTL

A Internet in the sky

In this activity you will find out about how satellites are used in different ways, and how they can enhance our access to telecommunications such as the internet.

I also added 15 or so new questions to the qbank for the Atoms and Nuclei, Astrophysics and Fields units. You can find out more about how to use the qbank and other student access tools here: Using student access

A full subscription gives you access to .pdf, .ppt, .xls, .ods and other downloadables, as well as to the student access tools.
