I like watching climbing as well as doing it but unfortunately due to Corona there's not been much to watch until now that is. Austria are putting on a series and have invited some Germans and Swiss competitors. These are indoor climbing competitions and the use plastic holds, some of them are "dual texture" they say the shiny bit has no friction making them impossible to use. Several climbers slipped of trying to stand on this one then this climber stood on it easily. How is that? Well, you don't need friction if there is no force parallel to the plane. if you press straight onto it then you won't slip off, by hanging out a bit she managed to get her foot flat on the surface and pushed in not down, clever stuff.
