One day lad all this will be yours

Last week I was in Scotland with my family and my daughter wanted to see a castle. I'm not that keen on history but I do like Monty Python, so we decided to visit Doune castle which was the castle used for many of the scenes in Monty Pyhton and the Holy Grail. We did the audio tour which was a bit behind what is possible with today's technology but none the less interesting. We walked round the castle looking for numbers, when you got to a number we pressed a button on the hand set and listened to some facts about the castle. I think an iphone ap is the way to go. There were two parts to the narration, one about the history and one about Monty Python. There is a famous sketch where the king shows his son the view out of one of the windows. The photo shows roughly that view except that now there is a row of wind turbines. Scotland seems to be going in for renewable energy in a big way, we saw lots of wind farms as well as many houses with solar panels on the roof. I know that a lot of people say that wind turbines are nice to look at and actually enhance the view but I disagree. Driving past several of these installations I also noticed how much the land around the base of the turbines is disturbed by the construction. They're not simply bolted to the hillside, a quite large area has to be made flat around the base of each.
