Tomorrow we are going to do aout group 4 project. Our first year students remain for 3 weeks after the IB exams to do things like this and a TOK outdoor experience. The Group 4 project is going to take the form of a field trip. We are taking a boat out to an island called Svanøy where we will do an environmental survey of the rocky shore. The idea is that the Biology and Environmental systems and societies students (I know they don't have to do the project but they are doing it anyway) survey the biological factors and the physics student look at the physical factors. There is only one student who only does chemistry so we won't worry about a chemical component (PH?). The idea is that the physics students with there mathematical and technological savvy will bring something to the investigation. One thing that i have been looking at is the use of photographs to measure distribution. LoggerPro can be used to analyse photos and Paintnet can be used to analyse the reflected light. Should be interesting.
