Waste of money?

Yesterday I was talking to one of my colleagues, Jelena the biology teacher, about marking. She was saying what a pain it was with all the paper she was having  to get from students, mark and hand back. I have been marking with a tablet PC for over 6 years and have no problem with paper so was gloating annoyingly. At this moment another teacher made the comment that a tablet PC was a waste of money. This got me thinking.

I have been using a tablet for about 6 years
I mark about 250 pieces of IA each year
Length of IA on average 5 sides plus one side for my table of scores and comments
So that's 6 x 250 x 6 = 9000
If I was collecting on paper then I would photocopy each one and place it in a folder.
So that's 18000 colour photocopies (they have to be colour) How much is a photocopy ? If we say 1 kroner (toner, paper, wear and tear) then I have saved 18000 kroner in the past 6 years. And that's more than the price of a tablet (about £2000) and I haven't even included the reading of drafts which would add a significant number of copies. So not such a waste of money then and on top of that I've helped save the rainforests and hence the world and all its contents (whales, pandas etc.).
