Fonagy et al (1991)

One"s attachment style is believed to influence one"s future relationships. This leads to the question of how a mother"s attachment style may affect her relationship with her own child.Research on the effect of a mother"s attachment style has mostly been retrospective. Fonagy (1991) wanted to investigate the question of how a mother"s attachment style affects the development of her child by designing a prospective study.
