The following section of the site includes guidance for the supervision of the extended essay.It is the advice of the IB that only students who are studying psychology write their extended essays in the subject. You will see that psychology has a high failure rate compared to other subjects - and one of the reasons is the high number of students who write essays in the subject although they have never studied it.
