The sociocultural approach to disorders focuses on how culture, society, and the environment may play a role in our mental health. Students are not required to know several sociocultural explanations, but they should know one or more sociocultural arguments for one disorder. They should be able to explain the theory, provide evidence to support or refute the theory and evaluate the theory as an explanation of the disorder.
