Happy Holidays!

Monday 24 December 2018

I wish you all a very happy and relaxing holiday season and hope that you find good health and happiness in 2019.

Looking back - on 2018

2018 was a milestone year for the IB: their 50th birthday. If you wish for a very quick introduction to the IB visit their 50th anniversary website HERE. It has a very useful 1 minute 30 second video and a scroll down history of the story of the IB. Both are useful for presentations to students, parents and staff.

New suites of workshops have been introduced. Two really good ones are: “What is an IB Education” - these are workshops which delve into the unique aspects of an IB education that are central to the IB mission. They are designed for all four IB programmes and are led by specially-trained workshop leaders. Their leadership workshops are aimed at both new and experienced school leaders. This is how the IB describes this suite of workshops: “Led by an outstanding group of trained facilitators who are experienced IB practitioners, these PD experiences will help you transform yourself as an IB leader. Choose to focus on vision and strategy, teaching and learning, culture and context, or other timely topics on offer.” I have facilitated both suites of workshops and can attest that they are some of the best in the IB professional development programme range of workshops – going to the heart of what makes a school an IB World School.

Looking forward - to 2019

In 2018 the IB launched its new Standards and Practices that will come into effect in 2020. In addition new workshops are being written for Heads of School and IB Coordinators that will also come into effect in 2020.  They will help to further cooperation between the IB centre and schools.
