Recruitment & Development

Why is recruitment a number 1 priority?

“…while each education system faces unique challenges, the recruitment, development and retention of teachers emerges consistently as a common international priority.” (Securing the 21st century teacher workforce: global perspectives on teacher motivation and retention, Edge et al., Wise, Qatar)

One of the most important tasks a school leader carries out is to recruit the right teachers for the school they are leading. Research tells us that it is through recruitment of teachers that school leaders have a direct impact on student outcomes.

Once recruited a key role for the school leader is to be the pedagogical leader of the teaching team - facilitating their growth and development.

In this section of the website we reflect on the various stages of the teacher recruitment process from identifying the key messages, articulating the school culture and expectations through to the interview process.

We also look at the marks of good professional development and how this ties in with the performance management / appraisal process.
