What does it mean to flourish?

Wellbeing is connected with people thriving and flourishing. In the world of education the roots of education as a nurturing in wellbeing go back to Aristotle. More recently talk of human flourishing are found in the work of 'positive education'. This page provides resources for colleagues to explore the elements of human flourishing and how these relate to a schools' wellbeing.

Martin Selegman is sometimes referred to as the 'father of positive psychology | education' (referred sometimes as the science of happiness). Positive Psychology is the scientific study of the strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive. The field is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play.
