eSubmission 2027

Knowing the eSubmission requirements and upload deadlines will help you to plan your course and prepare students effectively for the end of Year Two. All materials for Visual Arts are submitted through IBIS (the IB Information System). As more materials become available for the first exams in 2027, we will continue to build pages to support you and your students through the upload process.
Preparing for upload in 2027
E-submission deadlines & file requirements
In the Nothern Hemisphere the IBIS platform is open from 15 January, while in the Southern Hemisphere, upload is permitted from 15 July. Please note that the Upload deadline is the date the work must be received by - the system will automatically shut down, so do not leave it to the last minute as files being uploaded take time, especially when the system is overloaded with multiple users.

File sizes for uploading: It is not recommended or encouraged to submit the maximum file size as this will slow down the uploading and downloading times, on both ends of the system.
Internal assessment mark entry

By 20 April (or 20 October in the southern hemisphere) teachers/coordinators are required to complete the following on IBIS under the IAPG section.
We highly recommend completing this process before 10 April/10 October to ensure enough time for the time-consuming upload process.
- IA: Enter the candidate’s total mark on the IA marks screen.
- SL Resolved Artworks = 32 marks
- HL Selected Resolved Artworks = 40 marks
- To select a sample of your students' work for moderation, choose the "Select the sample" option and IBIS will generate the sample request. (see below: Samples Selected for Moderation)
- Once the samples have been generated, you will need to enter criterion marks for each student. These marks should add up to the total you entered in step 1.
- Refer to the assessment criteria descriptors when writing your justification for the marks (see below: Teacher Comments)
- NOTE: You will need to select and submit IA justification comments and criterion marks for the moderation sample on IBIS before you can upload any IA work to the eCoursework screens.
Mark the IA from Digital Evidence
Although you are the one who will see the actual student work in the Resolved/Selected Resolved Artworks components, the examiner will only be looking at the digital documentation.
Teachers are therefore asked to refer to the digital version on-screen so that they can experience and see what the examiner sees when marking the IA. The reasoning behind this is to keep the evidence consistent. . .hence the importance of high-quality documentation.
Point your students to the page on Documenting Your Artwork.
Anonymisation of student work
The IB asks that the candidate name and school name are not included on/in the actual work. The system links the candidate’s work to his/her name, but examiners do not see this. There will be no penalty applied if the details are shown, but the IB aims at avoiding bias as much as possible.
As communicated to schools on IBIS, teachers can use the candidate and school details in the file name should they wish to identify each file: this file name will not be shown on the e-marking platform.
