I like my lab it just doesn't fit in with the way I have adapted my teaching, great for the Lord of the board not so good for the mentor at the centre. The way it is now is traditional physics lab arrangement with two rows of high benches  running down the room. Why do labs have these high benches, it's not like we really need to be so high for doing experiments. It means we have to sit on stools which are not very comfortable and whenever I approach a student it's from behind. Sometimes there is so much equipment on the benches that there is no room for laptops. So, to cut a long story short, my lab is having a makeover. Benches around the edge for standing up experiments moveable tables in the middle for sitting at. I'll keep you updated. (Chris)
