Site organisation

The goal of this page is to explain the key sections of the site. Each section is noted by one of the main headings in the menu that runs across the top of the page.
For each section, there is an explanation of what you will find and how it fits into the IB Theory of Knowledge curriculum.
The Student Handbook is available to your students. All of the Core Theme and Areas of Knowledge pages are available by default. You can choose to share the Optional Theme pages with your students by changing the settings under Student Access (see Student access: Creating groups).
The handbook covers all areas of the curriculum - including all five Areas of knowledge and the Core theme. It also covers all five Optional Themes.
Some units in the handbook have multiple choice self-assessment quizzes for students to check for understanding of content. Students receive immediate feedback once they have completed the quiz. They can use it for self-study, revision or as a supplement to the lesson. As the site develops we hope to offer more of these.
You will sometimes see a "Teacher Only Box." These boxes are only visible to you and not to your students. They e explain the pedagogy behind the tasks and provide clarifications, offer extension materials, and give guidance regarding the expected student responses to tasks and how these link into the broader aims of ToK.
Since there are multiple routes through TOK and, therefore, through the handbook, it is a good idea to assign readings from it. It is not the intention that the student read everything!
Teacher Resources is an idea bank for teachers. The pages are not sharable with students.
Unit planning: For each unit, you will find unit plans and lesson plans that you can follow. They are not linear, so you can pick and choose the lessons that are relevant to your class. But you can also follow them in the order provided. For each unit, a Google Slides presentation will be provided.
TOK across the curriculum: is a collection of activities that can be used in other subjects to introduce TOK.
This section is devoted to assessment in TOK.
Exhibition: This section focuses on the exhibition assessment instrument, offers advice on how to structure the exhibition and introduce exhibition activities in everyday lessons. You can also find examples of marked student work there.
Essay: This section looks at the essay assessment instrument, offers advice on how to structure the essay and introduces writing activities in everyday lessons. There are examples of student essays with various kinds of commentary.
