Knowing you don't know

Sunday 10 July 2022

The results came out this week, I had a couple of pleasant surprises but on the whole they were as expected with a couple of 7's and lots of 6's. As usual the students who perform the best are those who consistently worked through the activities asking questions when unsure about a concept. I encourage my students to ask questions ut several of them go through the whole course without asking me anything. These students always under perform. The skill that some students seem to be missing is the ability to tell when the don't understand. When introduced to a new concept one goes through a series of internal question to test if your understanding matches with reality. Few students have that "inner questioning voice".
