Curriculum review (three cheers)
Tuesday 27 June 2017
Just had a bit of fun spotting people I know in the IB science symposium video. Some interesting comments too.
"IB science students need to know how to ask the right question."
"My favourite part is when they live up to their name, the experimental sciences."
"I'd like to see students have an awareness of practical dexterity."
"The very principle of this time in education is not to aquire the knowledge and techniques but the skills to use technology and techniques."
You can read more about the work of the curriculum review group here.
From what I have gathered there seem to be several themes arising.
- Systems approach, e.g fields rather than gravity and electrostatics, hmm.
- Computer modeling, yippee.
- Inquiry based learning, yippee.
- Skils not content, yippee.
So three cheers from me (and one luke warm).
