Then and Now: Conflict and War

Thursday 5 May 2022

Today, and on May 19th, you'll find pages and content that look a bit different from previous posts.  There are materials and resources from a body of work - WW1 military recruitment posters from the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee in Great Britain.

Putting together bodies of work for teachers isn’t new for us!  We have a ton of them on the site (see here for a list).

Instead, what’s new is that the body of work was split up into 5 concrete and specific 60-minute lessons (with 5 more lessons to come on May 19th).  By the end of May, there will be 10 lessons on conflict and war using a body of work to get to big ideas about communication, perspective, conflict, and war.

You can find the completed pages here.  There's 5 lessons right now (not yet a body of work!) with 5 more lessons to come on May 19th (which will make a complete body of work).

Our hope is that you are able to instantly use these lessons in your classroom.  We also encourage you to modify anything to fit your needs in your context.  Not everyone will have 60 minute lessons, for example!  Most of all, we hope these lessons and resources are useful for you and your students!

Best,

Tim and David
