Men's Health Magazine Covers (Lessons 4-7)

Thursday 3 October 2024

Two weeks ago, we started publishing our resources, materials, and lesson plans using Men’s Health magazine covers as a non-literary body of work.  You can find the first three lessons below.

Lesson 1

Lesson 2

Lesson 3

This week, we are adding four more lessons.  The first three lessons move slowly.  They are meant to ground students in the type of analysis and discussion about texts we want to see in our classrooms.  This week’s group of lessons move fast.  Students will cover a whole bunch of magazine covers in a short amount of time.  They will need to hone their analytical skills and sharpen their ability to do the work without set questions to answers and without us leading them through the analysis.  You can find the four lessons below.

Lesson 4

Lesson 5

Lesson 6

Lesson 7

In the middle of October, we will publish the last set of lessons for this unit about the representation of masculinity using Men’s Health magazine covers including formative and summative assessment options.

Best,

Tim and David
