4.1 and 5.1 Soil Dry Percolation Rate
The dry percolation rate of a soil is a measure of how fast water flows through dry soil. This is important as it will help determine how well a particular soil will cope with heavy or continuous rain and whether this will increase or decrease chances of flooding. This is why I have included this activity as part of the introduction to hydrological systems to help students visualise factors influencing flood risks.
