Subscribing teachers often tell us what they would like to see more of on the site. We like to receive those insights. As far as possible, we try to meet such requests. One thing we have been told that you and your students like is transcriptions of individual orals. While technology helps in the process of transcribing, it eventually become a very labour-intensive human process, trying (and trying and it is trying) to tease out what exactly a student (and sometimes a teacher!) are saying and then committing their words to a screen. If we do the transcribing, you don’t have to, and part of the value we hope that the InThinking site offers is saving you time; limited time, that is, that you can use to do things that are more interesting and fulfilling. This week, then, we have added a transcription for an already published individual oral. You can find the page here. In the weeks and months to follow, we will add more transcriptions, which we hope will add value to teaching and learning in your classroom.
