PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:

Do you remember those times when you first bought a new item, such as assemble-yourself furniture?

On the front page of instructions you will usually see something akin to saying, "PLEASE READ THIS FIRST." There is a very good reason for that. You could be missing a part or some sort of detail needed in order to put the product together correctly without harming yourself or others.

Many aspects of the IB program will not make sense unless you understand the reason for them being there. Before making any sense of the guide content or the assessment requirements, it will be important for both the teacher and the student to understand the mission and purpose of studying music in the IB context.

Creating the right culture and knowing about the various approaches to learning and teaching in the IB will better serve you and your students. Before browsing through the contents of this site, please take the time to look through this chapter. In the end, you will probably be saving yourself more time.
