This week, we are publishing another Paper 1 from the May 2024 time zone 2 exam.  You can find the newest exemplar here.    

We are also publishing a lesson plan that uses this exemplar and the first model example we published.  You can find that lesson here.

The first part of that lesson asks students to have a big, broad discussion about these two Paper 1s (a debate about which is better).  The 2nd part of the lesson is a granular sentence level analysis of the responses.  The goal of both lessons is to help students move beyond “adequate” writing and into heightened interpretation of the text and analysis of the writer’s choices. 

We’ve been thinking hard about how to support students with their writing.  We started doing this work with our May 2023 Paper 1s and Paper 2s.  You can find those lessons here, here, and here.  And we are going to continue doing this work with the May 2024 exemplars we publish.  We also know you want Paper 2 exemplars!  We will start publishing them at the end of January.
