Using student access
Student access to InThinking pages
The Student access page provides direct access for your students to access the InThinking site, as part of the teacher subscription. This function enables teachers to set assignments and use the rich range of learning activities available on this site. Teachers can set work for all students or else set up groups and monitor their activities. To set up student access start by clicking on the 'student access' tab on the left hand side of the screen and then click 'My groups'. This will allow you to set up each of your classes. Once set up you then control what the students have access to, using the 'Page manager' option.

What this site can offer your students when working online
By directing your students to a specific page, your classes can follow the activities, watch the videos and the complete the activities which follow. The answers to each are included and can be accessed by clicking on the eye at the end of each activity.
Direct your students towards the key terms at the beginning of each page. These contain succinct definitions for all the key economic terms relevant to the activities on that page.
The site also includes practise questions, multiple choice quizzes and interactive revision sheets that the students complete themselves by dropping one of the tab options into the appropriate blank to create their own revision guides.
Your students might also enjoy completing their own practise questions and this site contains a number of relevant Paper one,Paper two and Paper 3 style questions, for those students studying the subject at HL.
Your students may also enjoy the section Grading practise, which provides opportunities for your students to grade completed exam questions, IA commentaries,as well as completedextended essays in the subject.
Helping students prepare for the final exam
The site contains a number of pages dedicated to helping your students prepare for the final exam. Start by directing your classes to the Economics games tab, which contains a range of games Economic jeopardy, Speed match and Who wants to be a millionaire. These are based on the popular TV series by the same name and include separate games for each section of the syllabus.
Under the IB core tab, the page Teaching the command terms contains a page explaining how your students can prepare answers using each of the command terms. Suggest your students start with the more straightforward terms - explain, and illustrate before moving on to the AO3 / AO4 command terms - discuss/evaluate and examine.
Encourage your students to create their own revision sheets, using the sheets included in each section. These revision sheets can be accessed directly at: Unit 1: Review terms, Unit 2: Review sheets, Unit 3: Review sheets and Unit 4: Review sheets. Have your classes also test themselves using the Multiple choice quizzes and practise examination papers, available at Exams.
With much of the IB economics course centering on discussion, encourage your students to set up a google spreadsheet, where they can continue a discussion on the topics identified on the site.
To help your students prepare specifically for the exam, direct your students to the PowerPoint presentation, available at Revising for the final IB exam, while the External assessment page contains specific pages on each of the components - Paper 1: Extended response paper, Paper 2: Data response paper and Paper 3: Policy response paper (HL only).
For those students still completing their internal assessments, the dedicated section on Internal assessment will support your students in this component and lastly, the section of the site entitled Grading practise contains sample paper one and two exam responses completed by IB graduates. Your students can mark the response themselves before clicking on the eye to reveal the score awarded by the IB examiner, as well as their specific comments.
