A Good Pessoa is Hard to Find
This is not an easy blog post for me to write. When Erick Pessoa invited me to work on this site with him a few years back, I was ecstatic. Heather McReynolds' InThinking Visual Arts site had had been an indispensable resource for me when I was learning how to teach IB Art many years ago. With now more than 15 years of teaching IB film, I was excited to help provide a similar experience for other teachers.

Even better, I was excited to do this together with my friend Erick. We'd collaborated on our IB Film Facebook Forum, film festivals literally around the world, and now this. We may have different approaches, different styles, different taste in movies, but we’re completely aligned in our love of teaching film. Planning and working on this site together has been a great journey.
Unfortunately, Erick has decided to leave the site for professional reasons. I am disappointed by this decision as his collaborator, but completely support him as his friend.
With him, he will take his pages, including his Timeline Based syllabus. I know this is an important resource that many of you would like to continue to use, and I’m sure he will make it available to you in another form sometime soon.

In the meantime, I will continue to build resources with a focus on year one to make sure that new-to-curriculum teachers continue to have everything they need to run a successful course independently or shift into the Spiral syllabus. If there are specific supports you feel you need, please don’t hesitate to comment or reach out.

It has been a great honor to work with Erick on this project and others; be sure to look out for special Erick-led think-ins, and perhaps an Erick designed lesson every now and again!
